Raw and Honest Blog of a New Single Mom

I am a single mother of a biracial baby boy just trying to make it on my own. This journey is hard, yet rewarding. Blogging is my therapy, these words are my heart, and people doing better and being inspired by what I have written is my passion and hope.

Making Room for My Man

Thanks for all the suggestions I’ve received so far on places to shop for baby boys. I REALLY appreciate it. I took Stephanie’s suggestion and went to Target today to see what they had and I couldn’t help but buy a few of the Spring-themed sleepers they carried in stock. I was impressed by the colors and they had very few items there that made me wanna barf! :D Cute male bedding too.

These are newborn sizes, the smallest they had. I think they are very big and probably won’t fit him right away. Hmph. That’s cool I guess. Jack Jack (my nickname for my son) will be a middle of summer baby so I’m thinking that I really need to worry about little onesies to keep him cool anyway. These will probably be a perfect fit by the time Fall and Winter hit.

Speaking of making room I have a giant task ahead of me. You see, I live in a 500 sqft studio apartment, I love this place very much and don’t really want to move. It’s been the perfect fit for me and my personality. I’d love to try to make room for my son here but I’m just not sure what to do. Full sized cribs are way too big, though I was looking forward to getting one he could be in for years to come then convert into a little bed for him.
Last night I came across the Mini Crib which looks like it could be a good fit for my apartment, but I’m worried that it will only fit him a couple of years.

What do you guys think? Anyone have any experience with these? Do they stretch out enough to fit his body once he becomes bigger than say 2 years old? It says it’s a convertible but I just can’t tell if it does anything more than be a mini crib turned twin sized bed frame.

I haven’t heard of the mini crib.

He won’t need a lot of space as a baby. Aubs and I lived in a 400sqft apt for six months when she was a toddler. It wasn’t easy, but we made it work.

Did you fit a crib in your apartment for Aubs or did yall co-sleep?

LoL James and I lived in one bedroom together in my parents’ basement :P
He had a full sized crib and I just made it (and my double bed, 2 bookshelfs, 2 dressers, his dresser) fit.
It didn’t look all that great but it fit and worked for us for a year and a half.
Does it convert into a daybed?

We had a full size crib in our tiny apt but she slept with me every night anyway. Ha.

I LOST YOU!! Your link droped off my blog and i've been hunting for you ever since.. :) In relation to this question, which im aware is already very old (LOL), you can fit a crib into just about anywhere. Another alternative, and one that i used was to put Lucy into a bassinet until she was about 3 months old, and then i transferred her into a crib. By then i had room for it. Also, I put lucy into a full bed at 16 months old, with a side rail to keep her from falling out. Perfect solution for us.
