I'm beginning to wonder if it's the norm. Am was 8 lbs, 1 oz and I had no trouble at all. As Lauren said, 10 lbs is more on the large side if anything. One tip- you can try applying a warm washcloth before pushing the head to reduce the chances of needing stitches. I did that and was able to deliver mine without needing any. Then find some one in your support circle who will help you do everything else when the time comes. Newborns sleep alot - so you'll have some time to do things.
