Discipline

It breaks my heart when I discipline my son and he silently weeps and sniffles cuddled in the corner with his teddy bears while giving me the sad eyes.
Damn, damn, damnit.
Whatever! I am not that bad guy here! I will not give in!

It’s always tough to discipline your kid whilst you know the child is going through trauma. However you would rather be bad mama than ruin them in their live forever. I always tell my gal this ” I don’t mind if you regards me as bad mama, but now I need you to ….”. Afterawhile, she starts to understand I’m doing this for her own good. So well

I know the feeling- and it’s even worse when you’re a single mom. You ALWAYS have to be the badguy! It’s so frustrating. As your previous commenter said though- you are doing the right thing. Try to always turn the negative of the punishment into a positive. If my son jumps on the couch, I put him in a time out. I ask him what he did wrong, and when he replies that he jumped on the couch, I ask him what he should have done instead. (ie- asking for the trampoline.) I praise him for giving the right answer. Then, when his time out is over I reward him with praise for handling the time out so well. He’ll almost always give me a hug and say thank you, which is odd to me since I just diciplined him- but it works! I know your cutie is little, but he’ll get there eventually.
